About

Energetic. Melodic. Kinetic beats, both electronic and sample-based. Eclectic sound. Strong reggae influence. Intelligent. Catchy hooks. More singing than you'd imagine. Earthy. Unexpected. High-quality raps with extra-clean delivery. A hard working, distinctive artist.

A recovered scientist, Oso Negro makes music of his life and time, embracing the timeless power of lyrical consciousness and hunger for life. "Breachin' kids thoughts, but aiming at the minds of men, finding them fighting tidal strength." –Oso. A twist of reggae, a splash of crooning and the ever-present spirit of live music feed this hungry bear’s desire to mix it up, keep it fun and stimulating.

Oso hit the road a lot over the last decade, participating in several regional tours and playing shows from Seattle to Los Angeles to Austin, Montana, and just about everywhere between. In addition, he's also been getting plenty of radio play in the region, on both terrestrial and internet radio stations in WA, ID, UT, NV, SD, MA, and MS, and has been interviewed multiple times on Boise Community Radio, KRBX 89.9/93.5, as well as on Monster Music 92.7 FM, Twin Falls, ID.

Oso Negro has supported such acts as Shabazz Palaces, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Dilated Peoples, Souls of Mischief, SOJA, the Chicharones, Rehab, Grupo Fantasma, Katchafire, Cunninlynguists, Sage Francis, Homeboy Sandman, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Mickey Avalon, Tribal Seeds, Tonedeff, Abtract Rude, Myka 9, Scarub, Sweatshop Union, K-OS, Ceschi, Anuhea, Seedless, DJ Zeph & Azeem, Astronautalis, Mac Lethal, Shad, Awol One, Pigeon Hole, Sleep of Oldominion, Darktime Sunshine, Ugly Duckling, Ecid, Cecil Otter, B.Dolan, Qwel and Maker, Jackie Chain, and Poppa Grows Funk, among others. In addition, Oso has been part of the Treefort Music Fest (Boise), Alive After 5 Summer Concert Series (Boise), Neon Reverb Music Festival (Las Vegas), Rootdown Fest (Denver), Interchange Fest (Bozeman), Boise Hip-Hop Festival, Boise State University's "Bronco Welcome" Week, H.O.P.E. Fest, Urban Arts Festival (Salt Lake City), Chamberlin Rail Jam (Bozeman) 4 & 20 Blackbird Festival (Weed, CA), and Promenade Music Festival (Boise).

Influenced by the raw imagery of Wu-Tang, harmonies and gaze toward nature of Goodie Mob, mysticism of the Doors, and transcendence of topics by the likes of Aesop Rock, Cage, and El-P, Oso rarely if ever receives outright comparisons to other artists. His emceeing has been described as melodious, musical, and full of fun patterns. Don't forget the strong reggae and electronic undertones in his music, either.

Exit Prose, Oso Negro, Illumneye, & Earthlings @ Olympic Venue

The new Olympic venue hosts some the finest indie hip-hop artists in the Treasure Valley:

Exit Prose:  Being a child of the 80’s and early 90’s Exit Prose found himself introduced to the burgeoning culture of hip hop and was immediately drawn to it and particularly to the element of emceeing. He started out learning the art of freestyling and would practice at house party’s and other local spots around the Treasure Valley. It wasn’t long after when he starting writing rhymes down and putting them together to create songs. Needing some sound accompaniment and not knowing any producers at the time he took his first loan out and purchased an Alesis QS8.1 synthesizer keyboard and would use it to record and release (under a different alias) his first of set of songs with the help of local talent, turntablist and friend Derek Fritcher in 2000.

In 2005, Tim (gov’t name) branched out and joined a group which came to be know as the hip hop band Kamphire Collective. KC attracted some quick attention from their hometown (Boise) and after winning “Quest for the Best” a local talent competition for bands they found themselves invited on the Honda Ski Tour alongside a list of national acts. In 2007 after growing anticipation from fans they released the album “Simply Complex” a genre-bending selection of songs that would further spread their sound and influence.

After a noteworthy couple years of playing shows and rocking stages KC decided they had enough fun and said goodbye to the stage. Further aspirations spurred Exit Prose to find a new path and he started working with Boise producer Noah Hyde on a new solo project. In 2011 he was back on stage and he released “Sensational woes” a 14 song album that brought some attention back to him and his music. Now with promises of new music in 2015 Exit Prose is ready to take the mic and do it again.

Oso Negro:  A recovering scientist, Oso Negro dedicated the present to hip-hop. Unable relate to much now-a-days, he's decided to make music of his life and time, embracing the timeless power of lyrical consciousness and hunger for life. "Breachin' kids thoughts, but aiming at the minds of men, finding them fighting tidal strength." –Oso. A twist of reggae, a splash of crooning and the ever-present spirit of live music feed this hungry bear’s desire to mix it up, keep it fun and stimulating.

Illumneye:  A crew of homies from way back that put their heads together on some hip hop music.

Earthlings Entertainment:

Earthlings Entertainment is an organization that believes all human beings are born to do great things. We believe in the power of art, creativity, passion, knowledge, and–most of all–the power of the human spirit.

Founded in Mid-2013 in Boise, Idaho, Earthlings Entertainment consists of the members of the rap/hip-hop crew known as “The Earthlings”, as well as Boise’s premier dance crew, The Armada ID. However, Earthlings Entertainment embodies more than just a hip-hop or dance group. We rally under ‘Double E’ banner as a myriad of live performance and recording artists that constantly strive to challenge the status quo through artistic expression and creative inspiration.

It is our collective goal to show every human being that through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, anybody has the means to accomplish whatever he or she wants to.
