Oso Negro takes to the high road with DJ Surebert, May 1-7. During the "Night Creatures" tour, they'll traverse the mountains of CO, NM, & UT, traveling from Oregon in support of Oso & Weighn Beats' new Werebear EP. This team of Oso & Surebert will keep crowds bumping with Bert's dj'ing & kinetic production, and Unkie O's energetic live sets. The Werebear EP by Oso Negro & Weighn (Boise, ID) is a dark and nimble run through rites of adulthood: discovery & independence, choices & consequence, separation from community, and reflection.  Weighn's sequenced beats range from spacious and dour to driving and vigorous, but always with overcast tones. Oso's melancholia grows as he travels the arc from wonder to disillusionment, digging deep with lyrics and flows throughout the journey. Werebear features album art by, and a collaboration on "Maniacs" with, underground Bay legend, Z-Man (San Francisco). A funky remix of this collabo by Fresh Kils (Toronto) brings a re-imagined flavor to the track, making it groove in a whole new way from the original.

Oso Negro (Oregon/Mississippi) started his emceeing & singing in Mississippi during 2001, with the electro-southern-funk-hip-hop band New Madrid Click, then formed the hip-hop group H-BOMS, and has been making solo moves throughout the western US since 2010. A twist of reggae, a splash of crooning and the ever-present spirit of live music feed this hungry bearʼs desire to mix it up, keep it fun and stimulating. In 2014, he dropped the Unkie O LP, which was included in Radio Boise's "Krush Groove 208"'s top 10 list of the year's releases.

DJ Surebert (Portland, OR)
Hailing from Oregon and Montana, Surebert is a dynamic producer, DJ, and midnight toker. He has toured the entire Western United States, playing sold out shows and festivals across the west coast. His production has featured talented underground MC’s from all over the map including One Be Lo of Binary Star, Luckyiam of Living Legends , Sapient of Sandpeople, and every hometown hero in the Northwest.

Mike Wird (Denver) is the artist’s artist. A Hiphop Renaissance Man, he is well versed in all the creative expressions/elements of the globally recognized Universal Hiphop Kulture. As a dj/producer/emcee, in 2001 the independent underground release of Universal Devices was his first contributions to a Hiphop musical work of art w/ Denver based crew, Bugaboo, a staple conglomerate, rockin shows in the local scenes and buzzing overseas in Europe (Amsterdam) through out the 90’s and early 2000’s.  Since, Mr. Wird has partnered with several talented, culturally minded artist with works credited to BabahFlyJedi’s 2009 release Electro Sufi, and a contributing member of Denver based internationally recognized crews The Soul Pros and Moetavation/DJ Cavem. 2017 collaboration coming with Swiss producer Kwest. Mike's value for the live interactive high energy feel good show combined with ever evolving and provocative subject matter makes the Mike Wird experience one to remember and enjoy again and again.

Leomar Mendez- From the fertile mountains of Merida, Venezuela, world-travelling Leomar Mendez is quickly gaining ground as the local “Artesano” (the Spanish word for “artisan”) wherever he goes. He was born with an ear for music, memorizing a tune or melody after hearing it just one time! His lyrics are passionate, provocative, and based on a love of life and equality. The songs are woven tapestries of classic hip-hop flavored beats, with freshly chopped and blended samplings of street wisdom.
